Niagara Homegrown Wine Festival

The 2017 Niagara Homegrown Wine Festival in Niagara on the Lake is a little like inviting the wine god Bacchus himself to your wine festival. On the one hand, you have more than 40 classy wineries around the Niagara on the Lake, offering delectable wines and farm fresh food. On the other hand, much of this finery is served on the back of a truck’s tailgate with rock and jazz music playing in the background.

Wines and Foods Worthy of a Bacchus Ruckus…

Imagine crisp Chardonnays served with strawberry tarts as the pre-solstice sun stains the evening skies the color of red and white grapes. Or crab cakes crusted with herbs, a variety of hard cheeses, and a spicy chipotle sauce to dip it all in.
Of course, none of this would be quite as much fun if you couldn’t dig your toes into the cool grasses of the winery lawns and have leisurely conversations with vintners about this year’s wines. read more
